Unit 1 - Fundamental Tools

This unit focuses on the skills and knowledge base that will be used in every unit throughout the year. Topics will include cultural practices, cultural perspectives and cultural products as well as economic, social and political characteristics.   

 

Unit 2 - Ancient Greece

This unit focuses on the achievements of the ancient Greeks and how those achievements have impacted societies since then.  

 

Unit 3 - Ancient Rome

This unit focuses on the achievements of the Romans and how those achievements have impacted societies since then.

Unit 4 - Invasions/Conquests

This unit focuses on the changes in the world as the era of ancient history leads into an age of violence and turmoil throughout much of Europe and Asia. Topics will include the Germanic tribes, Mongols and Turks.

Unit 5 - Feudal Europe

 This unit will focus on the dark age of western Europe.  Topics will include the causes and characteristics of feudalism as well as what led to its decline. 

Unit 6 - Age of Empires

This unit focuses on the growth, achievements and interactions of empires throughout Europe, Asia and Africa.  

Unit 7 - Renaissance/Reformation

This unit focuses on the rebirth of learning and changes in religion in Europe during the early modern era. 

Unit 8 - Exploration/First Global Age

This unit focuses on the changes in the world as the European countries begin exploring and settling in the western hemisphere.  Topics will include famous explorers, colonization, mercantilism, the trans-Saharan slave trade and the Columbian Exchange.
